Development of state-of-the-art algorithms for the solution of very complex multicommodity network flow Network Design Problems

Scope of project:

Network Design Problems involve the design and optimization of networks. It has many applications in different industries and services. Just to cite one example in the telecommunications area, network design arises when it is necessary to construct a telecommunication logical topology and to determine an optimal routing over that topology using wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM), a technology which multiplexes multiple optical carrier signals on a single optical WDM network.

There can be a significant economic impact in telecommunication companies resulting from the implementation of the solutions provided by the optimization algorithms.
